The Marysburg Royals managed to play just one game of senior baseball in the past week, all due to wet weather.
The Royals played on June 13, picking up right where they left off after winning the Holdfast tournament in early June.
Marysburg took on the Saskatoon Dodgers and came out of the gate flying.
Braden Bauml got the complete game win, giving up only two hits. The defence played flawlessly, and the Royals recorded 16 hits, with Braden Bauml and Luke Strueby leading the way with three apiece. The final score was 16-1.
But rain prevented them from testing their skills again over the weekend.
"The Father's Day Tournament in Saskatoon was supposed to take place this past weekend, but it was rained out before a pitch was even thrown," reported Curtis Strueby of the Royals.
"It's very unfortunate as we are playing very good ball as of late and were feeling very confident," he added.
Strueby was also disappointed because "it would have been nice playing some new teams... as we were supposed to play the Saskatoon Diggers and the Calgary Longhorns in preliminary play."
As for the upcoming week, the Royals play the Saskatoon Blue Jays at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Saskatoon and then host the Saskatoon Dodgers for a doubleheader on Sunday in Marysburg beginning at 1 p.m.
"Our crowds have been great the past couple of years and we sure hope some people can make it out and watch," Strueby said. "We appreciate every bit of support we get."
