It's done.
Kevin Therres' new race car is complete.
"The project is done and I'm ecstatic. It looks really good," Therres told the Journal last week.
"I can hardly wait to get out on the track."
Therres and his team at Prairieland Motor Sports in Humboldt build their own race cars and the team has just finished building a new jet engine race car.
Recently, all the components were returned from Muenster Powder Coating, and the body from Discovery Edge Collision and Glass. That's when the Prairieland Motorsports team assembled everything together with the chassis, and installed the body.
Then the engine from the F5 fighter jet from the Canadian Forces was installed.
After this was completed, the wiring was done. Unlike their old car, the controls on this unit are all electronic.
The aluminum and chrome was polished to make the car look good, then Roger Schlitz came in and installed the graphics and decals on the body of the car.
With those decals, the new race car was complete.
Now, after a year of building the 2006 Mustang Jet Funnycar, Prairieland Motorsports has set its sights on going faster and quicker than ever before.
They estimate this car will be able to go 270 mph in 5.9 seconds in a quarter-mile, which is 15 to 16 miles per hour faster than their other cars.
They took their Mustang to the Regina Rod and Custom Show on the weekend.
