Players, coaches, managers contributed to elite baseball team

The Kindersley Klippers Baseball Team was formed around the late 1950s, competing in tournament baseball including the Saskatoon Exhibition winning that tournament three times, usually meeting the Delisle team in the finals.

The Kindersley Klippers Baseball Team was formed around the late 1950s, competing in tournament baseball including the Saskatoon Exhibition winning that tournament three times, usually meeting the Delisle team in the finals.

The Klippers also won three Eston Lions Tournaments and in 1959, they beat the Bavarian Team 10-7 in the final of the Saskatoon Optimist Tournament, with Lloyd Rachul СÀ¶ÊÓƵ the winning pitcher.

In 1960, the Northern Saskatchewan Baseball League was formed and soon after, Kindersley joined the league and in their first season they won the NSBL Championship.

The team also played in the Lacombe Baseball Tournaments winning in 1966.

They played in the Elks Tournament several times between 1967 and 1972, winning in 1968 and 1972.

Some of the Kindersley Klippers imported players who went on to the Major Leagues included Joe Ferguson, Gene Graves, Jim Wiley, Norm Angelini and Bill Keys.

Wayne Morgan went on to scout for the Toronto Blue Jays and is now scouting for Seattle.

The Klippers disbanded around 1974, with a number of the players joining the Kindersley Royals baseball team.

Many members of this team have already been inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in the individual category for their contribution Saskatchewan baseball history.

There were many great umpires coaches, managers, ground keepers and those that kept the organization going that were also part of the team.

Throughout the years, the Kindersley Klippers have been great ambassadors for the community of Kindersley, having hosted the Canada Cup twice, the Pacific Cup and the 1984 World Youth Baseball Championships.

The Kindersley Klippers will be inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, team category Saturday.
