Panthers bring home provincial title

The parents of the Unity Panther Squirt team are wearing their sunburns with pride after a hot weekend of provincial ball in Kindersley July 2-3. The girls wrapped up the 2011 ball season with a provincial C title for Saskatchewan North.

The girls wrapped up the 2011 ball season with a provincial C title for Saskatchewan North.

Saturday saw the girls playing three games in round robin tournament style play. The first game saw the Panthers take down Hudson Bay with a score of 10-1 in two and a half innings. Coming on the field next were the West Central Rivercats and the girls claimed a 15-0 victory. In the last game of the evening, the Unity Panthers took on the hosting Kindersley Royals where again they finished off in three innings, walking away from the round robin undefeated with a final score of 13-2.

The Kindersley Royals beat the West Central Rivercats in the second versus third place game to again meet up with the Panthers Sunday afternoon. In the final, the Panthers claimed the championship title in just five innings with a score of 17-10.
