This week saw the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League wrap up their regular season, with playoffs still to come.
It was a shortened season in 2021, with each team in the league scheduled to play 11 games. Ten out of 12 teams qualify for the playoffs.
Going into the final regular season games Tuesday and Wednesday, the Wilkie Brewers and Lloydminster Twins were both still battling for first place with eight wins, with Standard Hill and Kindersley hot on their heels with seven wins each.
The Battlefords Trappers were in the middle of the pack with a 5-5 record. Their final game of the regular season was scheduled for Wednesday at home to Border City.
Meanwhile, the North Battleford Beavers wrapped up their regular season with a 3-8 record, just enough to qualify for the post-season. Their final home game was Monday night when they lost to the Lloydminster Twins 14-5, their third loss in a row.
Going into the final games, Brock Harrison of Standard Hill led the league in batting with a .575 average, ahead of Brett Esau with .565. In pitching, Chris Osmak of the Lloydminster Twins led the league with an 0.00 ERA.
