Saskatchewan will participate in 19 sports against teams from across Western Canada and among those elite athletes, some Northwest competitors will be in action.
Team Sask will compete with Team B.C., Team Alberta, Team Manitoba, Yukon Sport, Team NWT and Sport Nunavut in the Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops, B.C. Aug. 5 to 14.
North Battleford will be represented in two sports - swimming and men's volleyball. Both sports are in the second half of the games, and Samuel Stilborn and Lindsay Reimer are both be looking forward to the experience.
Stilborn plays volleyball with North Battleford Comprehensive High School and also club volleyball, while Reimer is a swimmer with the local club.
Others from the Northwest will compete in the track and field events. Kennedy Glassford of Wilkie is a track athlete, while Breanna Rak and Brandon O'Donnell are field athletes from Cut Knife.
The other track and field athlete from the area is Nolan Machiskinic also of Cut Knife.
Track and field will begin Aug. 6, the day following the opening ceremonies. Other week one events include: baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, canoe/kayak, softball, tennis, triathlon and wrestling.
The week two sports beginning Aug. 11 include: swimming, volleyball, soccer, rugby, rowing, gymnastics, golf, field hockey, cycling and badminton.
