North Stars win twice to keep pace

The Battlefords North Stars created some space between themselves and the Flin Flon Bombers with back-to-back wins coming Thursday against Estevan and Saturday in Nipawin. The North Stars won 5-4 at the Civic Centre Thursday.

The Battlefords North Stars created some space between themselves and the Flin Flon Bombers with back-to-back wins coming Thursday against Estevan and Saturday in Nipawin.

The North Stars won 5-4 at the Civic Centre Thursday. Cole Gibson, Braeden Johnson, Boyd Wakelin, Tanner Schwab and Kyle Hall scored for the North Stars.

One the Estevan side, Dominic Perrault, Ryan Andersen, Lucas Stubel and Josh Jelinski scored for the Bruins.

Graham Hildebrand was in net for the 41 save performance while Shea Cooper suffered the 27 save loss.

Two days later, the North Stars packed up and hit the road to take on the Nipawin Hawks.

The North Stars had first period goals from Tim Rollins and Brody Luhning. Luhning, Gibson and Keith Grondin scored later for the North Stars, as Jeremy Peek and Brendan Tash scored for the Hawks. Brody Hoffman and Stephen Klein split time in the Hawks' net while Hildebrand earned his second win in as many starts.
