The Battlefords North Stars will be returning home for Game Five of their series against the Nipawin Hawks on Friday night.
The North Stars were unable to wrap up their series with the Hawks Wednesday at Centennial Arena in Nipawin. The Hawks prevailed 6-3, setting up game five at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre Friday.
Game four was a close game throughout. Caden Benson got the first goal for Nipawin at the 2:41 mark of period two, but Dylan McCabe tied it up at 5:21 of the first.
Carson Dobson re-took the lead at 8:16 with Burke Simpson and Caden Benson assisting, but Seth Summers tied it up at 2-2 with a goal from Ben Hiltz and Ryland McNinch with 1:18 remaining in the second.
Nipawin retook the lead on Jordan Simoneau’s goal at 1:58 of period three, and then they broke the game open on goals from Jeremy Bisson and Brodie Girod. Rylan Nivon got one back for the North Stars before Riley Bruce scored into an empty net for the 6-3 final score. Â
Despite the lopsided score, shots favored the North Stars 37-27.
The North Stars now lead the series three games to one. Game five on Friday is going to force some hard decisions for some hockey fans in the Battlefords. The potentially clinching North Stars-Nipawin game five will be directly up against game three of the Sask Prairie League finals between the Battleford Beaver Blues and Meota Combines at Battleford Arena at 8:30 p.m. that same night.
