THE BATTLEFORDS - The Battlefords North Stars are in La Ronge Tuesday night, taking on the Ice Wolves as they face another key stretch of games.
The North Stars hope for a win to stay close in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division. Right now they trail Humboldt by seven points in the division and in the overall standings.
After La Ronge, the North Stars host Melfort on Friday night, who are currently second in the Sherwood Division, and then head to Nipawin Saturday to play the Hawks.
The Nipawin game will be notable, as Doug Johnson will not be behind the Hawks bench. Johnson was fired this week after over a decade at the helm there, with Tad Kozun named interim coach. The game is also notable as it is Teddy Bear Toss Night in Nipawin.
The North Stars' Dec. 10 home game with Melfort is one to circle on your calendar as it is Toque and Mitten Toss Night. Bring your toques and mittens to the game and toss them onto the ice following the first North Stars goal, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank.
On Dec. 14, the North Stars host Notre Dame, hoping to get some revenge after a 2-1 loss at home on the weekend.
The Dec. 14 home game is the ever popular Teddy Bear Toss Night. Bring a teddy bear to toss onto the ice immediately after the first North Stars goal, with the stuffed animals collected by WPD Ambulance for the Empty Stocking Fund.
The North Stars have also announced on their Facebook page that throughout the month they will have bins at the rink to donate non-perishable food items. They will also be doing the Face Off for Hunger campaign with Innovation Credit Union.
