NBCHS takes 'em to the mat

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School wrestling team participated in the 28th annual Redmen Classic at Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon Feb. 4 and 5.

The North Battleford Comprehensive High School wrestling team participated in the 28th annual Redmen Classic at Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon Feb. 4 and 5.

Participating in this tournament were 13 local athletes - Cole Omelchenko, Pita Tuiloma, Brendan Elliot, Taylor Reiley, Taylor Thomas, Schalk-Willem Engelbrecht, Erica Landrie, Taisley Isaac, Kasia Kipp, Annaliese Ashley, Liam Burns and Emily Powers.

Friday, in the novice part of the tournament, Reiley and Engelbrecht placed first in their pools winning all of their matches. Landrie won three of her four matches. Isaac won three and lost two. Burns won two and lost three. Powers, Kipp and Ashley all lost all their matches.

Saturday, in the elite tournament, Elliot, Reiley and Omelchenko won one match and lost two. Tuiloma won two and lost two. Thomas, Landrie, Isaac and Engelbrecht lost both of their matches.

With the Redmen Classic behind them, the NBCHS wrestling team is starting to prepare for regionals.
