The battle for the eight playoff spots in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League heat up, as just three weeks remain in the regular season schedule.
The North Battleford Beavers pulled to .500 with a Wednesday night win in Lloydminster against the Midget Twins. The 5-0 win puts the Beavers at 4-4 on the season and very much in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Beavers held the sixth spot in the standings heading into their game Thursday night against the Kindersley Raiders.
Also Wednesday evening, the Meadow Lake White Sox improved to 3-2 with a 12-2 win over the St. Walburg Reds.
Tuesday in Unity, the Wilkie Brewers bumped their record to 7-2 and took sole control of second place with a 4-1 win in Unity. Russ Nielsen hit his second home run of the season and Aaron Sittler was on the mound for the complete-game win.
In Lloydminster Tuesday, the Meridian Twins remain unbeaten with a 10-0 win over the Midwest Expos. The Twins lead the league with and 8-0-1 record and have scored the most runs this season with 75.
Along with the Beavers in Kindersley Thursday evening, Unity was scheduled to play in Mervin, the Brewers were in Wilkie against the Unity Midget A's and the Lloydminster Junior Redhawks played the Border City Blue Jays.
Sunday, there are two double headers in Lloydminster with the Raiders and Sox playing the Midget Twins and Meridian Twins.
