The Muenster School senior team finished second at the district championship. Humboldt’s St. Dominic School teams were the runners up for the HCAA District Championship for both junior boys and junior girls

MUENSTER, HUMBOLDT — The Muenster School junior girls curling team claimed the Horizon Central Athletic Association district championship last week.

Coach Janine Lacoursiere said the Muenster School rink was very dedicated to practice and all league games. She said they were “eager to learn and soaked in all advice given to them by their coaches.” Lacoursiere also noted that the student-athletes had “positive attitudes and like to have fun. … All seem to really enjoy the sport.”

Muenster Senior Boys

On the boys’ side, the Muenster School senior team finished second at the district championship and punched its ticket to regionals. The latter event will be held in Prince Albert, March 4-5.

Riley Sylvestre skips the senior boys rink. Ethan Hinz is the third. The rink’s front end are second Jacob Newberry and lead Adam Korte.

“I believe they were successful because they've been curling together since Grade 7,” coach Maegan Clark said. “They get along well and have a great attitude on the ice during games and at practice. They really enjoy playing together and are looking forward to regionals.”

At the district championship in Wadena, Feb. 11-12, Muenster School beat Bruno and Bellevue to reach the finals. After going through the B-side, Bellevue beat Muenster School for the title.
