MELFORT — The Melfort Mustangs’ latest acquisition is coming back to his home province after a stint in Alberta.
Leighton Burns-Marion, a 2000-born forward from Regina, was traded to the Mustangs from the Calgary Canucks in exchange for a player development fee.
He has played the last two seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with Calgary. In his 92-game career in that league, he scored eight goals and five assists for 13 points. In three playoff games he also added a goal and an assist.
“We’re excited to add Leighton to our team." said Trevor Blevins, the Mustangs’ coach. “He’s a big, strong forward, who fits our style of play.”
Prior to Calgary, Burns-Marion played with the Regina Pat Canadians of the Saskatchewan U18 league. He also played two seasons with the Notre Dame Argos U18.
