It was a day without coveralls and the opportunity to enjoy the company of others working in the industry. The Maidstone Oilmen's Golf Tournament was held Friday at the Silver Lake Regional Park.
Seventy-two participants were split into flights competing for cash prizes. Chris Hartman was the winner of the championship flight while Brett Brassard won the chip-off contest.
Throughout the day, golfers voted for their choice for the Ernold Priest Memorial Award for sportsmanship. Bob Ormistan was presented with the award during the steak supper.
The tournament has many sponsors offering food and drink on the course and a lot of great prizes. A door prize draw ensures every golfer wins a prize leaving the best for last. This year the top prizes were two barbecues, a trip to Northern Meadows including golf and accommodations, a trip to a Saskatchewan Roughrider game against the Edmonton EskimoS with spending money and a four-day fishing trip.
Volunteers were happy to see the sun shining and their peers enjoying the game and the hard work and organizing finished for this year, as they always are looking forward to the next season's events.
