Saskatchewan Men's Mid-Amateur - The runner up at last year's Men's Mid-Amateur event prevailed this time and edged three Northwest golfers and 46 other from across Saskatchewan. Cadmus Delorme won with a four round score of 283.
The top local was Brett Harrison of Maidstone, as he shot an 81, 76, 76 and 80 for a +25 total. Harrison finished tied for 11th.
North Battleford's Dwayne Johnston was +29 after four rounds and was tied for 17th. Johnson fired an 81, 78, 78 and 80 at the Lloydminster Golf and Country Club last week.
Graham Campbell was in the middle of the pack with Harrison and Johnston after two rounds, but a 90 on the third round dropped him down the standings. Campbell shot an 81, 82, 90 and 86 and was +51 and tied for 34th.
Saskatchewan Men's Amateur Championship - Scott Thompson of St. Walburg was back to defend his title of the Men's Amateur Championship in Warman at the Legends Golf Course. Action began Tuesday and the final round will be played Friday.
Thompson tied for 59th overall in 2010 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship and the previous year he was tied for 55th in the same event. Along with his back-to-back wins of the Saskatchewan Men's Amateur Championship he enter this year with many acolades making him a heavy favourite coming into the event this week.
Thompson started off on the right foot, as he was tied for third spot after the first round with a 71. After Wednesday's results he moved into sole possession of second place. After two rounds, Thompson sits four strokes over par and three strokes back of the leader Troy Bulmer.
Michael Herperger, of Humboldt sat in a tie for sixth place after two rounds. The young golfer is from Humboldt, but has a tie to the Battlefords, as he played midget AAA hockey and attended school in the Battlefords three seasons ago.
Nevin Gloe of Battleford shot a 75 and 83 and was +14 after two rounds. Gloe was tied for 32nd.
Tim Acaster of North Battleford was just two strokes back of Gloe and tied for 39th after scores of 79 and 81. Last year, Acaster was eighth in the Saskatchewan Men's Amateur Championship and tied for 20th the previous year.
Tyler Wilson, another North Battleford golfer, was 22 strokes over par and tied for 63rd with an 86 and 80 after two founds.
Tied in 83rd was Taylor Cook of North Battleford. Cook shot an 87 and 85 and was +28 after two rounds.
Riley Tyndall another North Battleford Golfer was in 94th place with a +31 mark after Wednesday's round.
The final two local golfers, Troy Tyndall and Tim Sletten were tied for 95th at +32. Troy Tyndall shot a 91 followed by an 85. Sletten's scores were 90 and 86.
Thursday, 106 golfers began teeing off at 7 a.m. and will continue with Thompson's group СÀ¶ÊÓƵ the last one out at 12:15 p.m.
The top 36 golfers after three rounds will make the cut and compete for the championship Friday.
