The Saskatchewan provincial golf season is in full swing and the golfers on the course competing at provincials this week were the seniors.

The 2011 Saskatchewan Senior Men's and Women's Championships at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club in Swift Current were underway and drew eight senior men golfers from the Battlefords.

After two rounds the top score was -4 by Moose Jaw's Daryl Herchuk.

The top golfer from the Battlefords is Lloyd Hartl, who was tied for 26th after shooting an 80 and a 78 for +16 following the Tuesday and Wednesday rounds.

Brian Lampitt was in 35th at +19. In a tie for 39th was George MacGregor, 21 strokes over par. Herb Weinmeyer was +23 after two rounds and tied for 44th. Neil Lampitt was in 50th with a +26 score. Doug Harrison was +32 and tied for 57th place. David George was tied for 71st after sitting 43 over after two rounds. Lee Ostberg is two strokes back of George and in 74th place.

The final round was Thursday, as the 77 men and 14 women took to the course.

At the Saskatchewan Men's Amateur Championship last week, it wasn't a three-peat for Scott Thompson of St. Walburg. Thompson entered the tournament, as the two-time defending champion and one of the favourites. He finished eight strokes out of first place at +11 and in fifth place.

Other golfers from the Northwest competing were Tim Acaster, who finished at +25, Nevin Gloe who was +26, Tyler Wilson who was +30, Tim Sletten at +39, Riley Tyndall at +47, Troy Tyndall at +48 and Taylor Cook at +50.

None of the Battlefords golfers made the cut and golfed on the final day, as the cut line was 238 after three days.
