It wasn't what many would consider as great golf weather n the weekend, but more than 60 golfers hit the links for two days at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.
The Home Hardware Building Centre North Battleford's Ladies' Northwest Open Championship often draws a mix of local and out of town golfers and this year was no exception.
The tournament champion trophy will be leaving town once again as Kathy Ziglo, who turned in a score of 159 won the championship flight. Ziglo, the Saskatoon golfer, won the championship for the second straight year.
Robin Dejons-Jarvais was one stroke back and in second place with a 160. Joanne Schiller was third and Deanna Klusa was the top local golfer with a 173, which was good enough for fourth in the championship flight.
In the first flight, local golfer Rhonda Seidel was first with a 178. Behind Seidel were Shelley Ruecker, Bonnie Klettke and Nadia Gisi.
Sherry Huyghebaert was first in the second flight with a 199. Chris Harnett, Jennifer Fafard and local Anita Simon rounded off the fourth flight standings.
Rosie Charles had the low net score of 145 and also received a prize Sunday.
In the team category, Vicki Lamb and Robin Acton had the top score with a 169. Second in the first team flight were locals Darcy Tkatchuk and Janet George with a 169 as well. Lillian Martin and Inez Proctor were third in the first flight.
In the second flight, more locals, Patt Steiert and Deb Wohlberg finished with a 179. In second, were Monique Bonneau and Shirley Helmerson. Third place in the second flight with a 187 went to the local duo of Diana Graham and Deb Iwanchuk.
The third and final team flight had five of six local golfers earn top honours. Deb Millar and Bernice Chasse were first with a 204, Donna Weber and Cheryl Cook were second and Marie McCallum and Sandra Aubichon were third.
