The Wilkie Athletics, with players from the Battlefords, Wilkie and Unity hosted the midget AA provincials last weekend in North Battleford after playing the regular season as the name Unity Midgets.

The three communities combined during the season playing in the senior league and were hoping to be fully prepared for some good pitching and strong teams during the weekend provincial tournament.
The A's were prepared, but didn't start the tournament off the way they had hoped. In their first round robin game, the Athletics lost to the Swift Current Indians, who held the Athletics to just one run.
Next, the A's faced the Saskatoon Braves and earned the victory to improve to 1-1.
The third and final round robin game was a do or die matchup for the Athletics, as they faced the Regina Pacers. The Athletics scored one run and that was all they needed earning the 1-0 win to advance to the semi finals.
Sunday morning, in the semi final the Athletics played a familiar rival in the Lloydminster Midget Twins. The Twins and Athletics are the two midget teams playing in the senior league and faced each other once during the regular season. Lloydminster won the regular season game 14-2.
In the rematch, the Athletics kept the game closer, but the result was the same and the Twins moved on to the final with a 7-4 victory.
Lloydminster advance to face Swift Current in the final and it was Swift Current winning 8-1. The Indians advanced to Western Canadians, which will be played in Morden, Man. Aug. 11 to 14.
