Teeing off on the 10th hole of the North Battleford Golf and Country Club instead of working, is there anything better? Friday, 31 golfers took part in the APM Construction Service - Western Division fundraising golfer tournament.

APM Construction Service has been on the CUPlex site for nearly 15 months and Friday they took the opportunity to give back to the CUPlex Raise the Roof project.

APM Construction Services Western Division organized a golf tournament to raise money for the project they are working on, as the contracted company for the Dekker Centre for Performing Arts.

After celebrating at BridgeFest and realizing all the possibilities for social activities and excitement in the Battlefords, members of the construction crew decided they should do something themselves and the idea was put forward to host a golf tournament.

Friday, they hosted a tournament that saw more than 30 golfers on the course and $3,020 raised. Dozen of prizes were donated from local businesses and the support was something APM Construction Service safety officer and golf tournament organizer Carol Brazeau was blown away by.

Dozens of local businesses donated prizes large or small and she was overwhelmed by their generosity.

The support through prizes, along with a beautiful September afternoon at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club and later a banquet at Bennigan's made for a great day for the trade crew members, suppliers, city officials and CUPlex fundraising committee members who took part.

Brazeau said it was a great event, but they will not be doing another golf tournament simply because they plan to complete the Dekker Centre for Performing Arts by March and will no longer around for the golf season.

Brazeau noted how many of those working on the CUPlex have embraced the Battlefords and enjoyed their time here and look forward to the next community event they can be part of in.
