One of the 18 teams at the Granite Curling Clubs' golf tournament Saturday tees off on the 10th hole at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.

The fundraising efforts are continuing and going strong for the North Battleford Granite Curling club, according to Rob Goheen.

The most recent fundraising effort was a golf tournament at North Battleford Golf and Country Club, which hosted 18 teams Saturday.

Goheen explained the numbers were down slightly this year despite the beautiful weather, as the tournament often draws 20 to 25 teams. With 72 golfers out for fun and to support the curling club and the Northland Power Curling Centre, which will be operational in the CUPlex in the fall of 2012, he was happy with the result.

The tournament isn't one in which the best score is awarded the top prize, instead it is a fun tournament with door prizes and awards for the men's and women's longest drives and closest to the pin. Goheen said the car dealerships from the Battlefords did an amazing job of stepping up and supporting the tournament with prizes. They again made the annual event an accomplished tournament and something many people look forward to each year, he said.

Supper was provided at the golf course following the Texas scramble tournament capping off a great day of golf, friends and fundraising.
