Some may have been tuned into their favourite sport on TSN recently and recognized a familiar name.
Shayne Morrissey, who played with the Battlefords North Stars for the first half of the 2010-11 season is on a commercial running in August on TSN.
The hype about Morrissey before he came to the Battlefords last season was that he was an offensively gifted forward. That was proven when fans searched his name before he arrived in the Battlefords and watched a highlight on YouTube. Morrissey was at a hockey school and was recorded flipping the puck on the end of his stick, then jumping over his stick and batting it into the net. That highlight is now entered in a contest for $25,000.
Morrissey is entered in the Advil Sports Highlight of the Month. Morrissey's impressive highlight has nearly 100 views to date and can be viewed at http://www.metacafe.com/advil.
Morrissey had seven goals and seven assists with the Stars before returning to Eastern Canada and finishing the season with the Carleton Place Canadians in the CCHL.
