CurlSask has cancelled the provincial men鈥檚, women鈥檚 and mixed doubles curling championships this year, and announced the teams that will represent Saskatchewan on the national stage.

The curling organization said that they had to make the decision after the provincial government Saskatchewan government extended the ban on team sports until Jan. 29 and rejected a proposal to keep the teams isolated in a 鈥榖ubble鈥.

鈥淎ll options for any form of competition to declare our representatives have been exhausted,鈥 a media release from CurlSask said.

To select the teams playing in the nationals CurlSask didn鈥檛 appoint last year鈥檚 champions, as many teams have undergone roster changes, but instead examined the performance of the teams 鈥 and the individuals on the teams 鈥 within a two-season window.

For the men, Team Matt Dunstone, Braeden Moskowy, Kirk Muyres and Dustin Kidby will represent the province. For the women, it will be Team Sherry Anderson, Nancy Martin, Chaelynn Kitz and Breanne Knapp. For mixed, it will be Mike Armstrong and Ashley Quick.

The 2021 CurlSask Mixed Doubles Championships were going to be in Aberdeen, while the 2021 Viterra Scotties Women鈥檚 Curling Championship and the 2021 SaskTel Tankard Men鈥檚 Curling Championship were going to be in Estevan.
