The first Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association provincial championships of the new school year took place last weekend at Kenosee Lake and Bengough.
The fall high school golf provincials teed off and the Northwest was well represented on the grass greens.
At the grass green championship in Kenosee, Daegan Wall of Regina led the pack with a first round 70 and never looked back. He finished with a 144, four strokes ahead of the next golfer.
The top male from the Northwest was Justin Wood of Unity. Justin shot a 79 Friday and an 82 Saturday, which was good enough for an eighth place tie.
Kent Redding and Troy Tyndall of North Battleford Comprehensive High School were 26th and 32nd with 172 and 173 scores. Teammate Cole Tenetuik was eight strokes back in 42nd place and Jordan Carriere was 70th.
The North Battleford team finished 10th overall of the 15 teams playing off.
On the female side, Maidstone's Danielle Blackmar shot a 94 and 92 to clinch fourth place, four strokes out of the medals. Wilkie's Kerstin Jensen was tied for 10th, Unity's Mackenzie Chorney was 13th, Lashburn's Mackenzie Harley was 20th and Leoville's Brittany Bruneau was tied for 26th.
Lisa Reid of Regina was the top female golfer with a playoff win after shooting a two-round total of 174.
On the sand greens, 37 golfers participated with the top score going to Tyrin Foley of Bengough.
