He wasn't here for a long time, but he did have a big impact on the Battlefords in his final year of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
The Battlefords North Stars' 2010-11 captain, Cris Neurauter, committed to the SAIT Trojans of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.
Neurauter didn't become a member of the Battlefords North Stars until after training camp and an October acquisition moved him from Estevan to the Battlefords. Neurauter had a career year with 35 points (six goals and 33 assists) in 52 games and 101 penalty minutes.
Neurauter was named the North Stars' captain shortly after СÀ¶ÊÓƵ traded and was a cornerstone and steady piece of the North Stars' defence core this season. Neurauter's addition to the team helped the North Stars recover from their 0-5-1-1 start to the season.
He played a total of 143 regular season SJHL games over three seasons split between the Battlefords, Estevan and Melfort. Neurauter recorded 17 goals and 63 assists.
Neurauter was named the SJHL's defenceman of the month for November and the North Stars' Humanitarian Award winner this season.
The Red Deer-born defenceman is the first North Star graduate to play for SAIT since Will Rathje and Jeff Blaquiere committed to the Trojans after the 2006-07 season.
Neurauter is the fourth North Star to announce his commit to a school for the 2011-12 hockey season. Tony Oak committed to Simon Fraser University while Kyle Birch and Cody Folstad committed to Portage College next season.
Neuruater will enroll in power engineering.
