The Mervin Flyers were expected to be better this year and they did that with new recruit Kelly Baillargeon tossing a complete game while giving up just four hits. Mervin scored and unearned run in the first and eventually held on to a 4-3 victory beating the Brewers.
Standard Hill and St. Walburg also had a close game Thursday night, as the Lakers edged the Reds 5-3.

The Unity Cardinals hosted the Lloydminster Midget Twins and it was Unity earning the 8-4 win.
The fifth game on the NSRBL schedule last night was played in Kindersley under the lights where the hometown Raiders beat the Unity Midgets 12-1.
Friday, the Wilkie Brewers will be in Lloydminster to play the Border City Blue Jays while Mervin travels to Meadow Lake to play the White Sox.
