The National Aboriginal Hockey Championships are set to start April 26 to May 1 and the Battlefords will be well represented at the tournament.
On the men's team are three Battlefords Midget Stars. Defenceman Robin Yew along with his brother Regan on forward. Forward Colby Daniels also earned one of the 23 roster spots on the team.
Daniels among the team leaders on the Stars in points with 15 goals and 21 assists in 42 games as a rookie in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League in 2009. He stayed consistent in his second season notching 12 goals and 21 assists in 41 games and was second on the team in points.
Regan Yew had three goals and 10 assists as a rookie this season with the Stars and his brother Robin had two goals and three assists in 39 games. The Yew brothers are from Ile ala Crosse.
The women's roster also includes four Battlefords Sharks. Forward Delaney Ross of Meadow Lake led the AAA Sharks in points as a 13-year-old. She had six goals and six assists in 28 games.
AAA Sharks' defenceman, Taylor Durocher, was a 16-year-old rookie in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League this season. She also travelled from Meadow Lake to play with the Sharks and recorded one assist.
Jamie Fedler began the season with the AAA Sharks, before finishing the season with the AA Sharks. Jamie played alongside Shelby Fedler, who will be playing defence on Saskatchewan roster.
Teams from Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta have confirmed entry to the tournament, which takes place in Saskatoon.
