Battlefords 50s great hosts

For the love of the game. That is the motivation for most players who took part in the 31st annual Battlefords 50s oldtimers tournament. The 50s beat the Wilkie X-Outlaws, Edmonton Panthers and Prince Albert Chiefs to earn the B pool championship.

For the love of the game. That is the motivation for most players who took part in the 31st annual Battlefords 50s oldtimers tournament.

The 50s beat the Wilkie X-Outlaws, Edmonton Panthers and Prince Albert Chiefs to earn the B pool championship.

In pool A, it was another 3-0 team winning the trophy, as the Leduc Blades beat the Saskatoon Icemen, Paradise Valley Hawks and Battlefords Rams.

The Rams and Blades played Sunday morning in a battle between 2-0 teams, but it was the Rams coming out with a 3-0 win.

The rams scored two of three penalty shots, while the Rams scored one of three, which was ultimately the difference.

In pool C, the Biggar Hawks finished 3-0. The Edmonton Raiders, Manville Road Runners and Lloydminster Shauddahaddens were 2-1 in pool C. Calihoo Elders and Saskatoon Rangers were 0-3 in pool C.

Along with the action on the ice, the players had a chance to attend the social Friday evening and the supper and dance Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Another well-run tournament with good hockey and better company helped the Battlefords 50s raise money, which they plan to donate to the CUPlex before the 32nd annual tournament.
