Just as the high school volleyball season comes to an end, the basketball season begins.

The John Paul II Collegiate senior girls' basketball team kicked off the season with their home tournament Friday and Saturday.

In front of a large energetic crowd, the Crusaders kicked off their season with a win over Biggar to advance to the A-side of the tournament draw.

In the semi-final, the Crusaders earned another win, this time over Prince Albert to advance to the final.

In the final, Prince Albert St. Mary's were to strong for the Crusaders and earned the gold medal.

Melfort won the bronze medal.

This season the Crusaders have a fairly young team with just three Grade 12s on the roster, but coach Jen Kohut and the team are looking forward to the season ahead.
