Another water treatment plant in North Battleford is to be shut down temporarily, though this time it was a planned shutdown.
Water Treatment Plant No. 1 will be temporarily shut down for approximately two days, starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a news release from communications co-ordinator Mike Halstead, the shutdown is necessary to connect water lines to the new addition at the plant. The plant is undergoing a major expansion that is expected to be complete by June of this year.
The city stated it did not expect any disruption in water services but they asked city residents and businesses to conserve water whenever possible.
The planned shutdown comes on the heels of last week's shutdown of the City's secondary treatment facility, F.E. Holliday water treatment plant. That shutdown came as a result of a power failure following an electrical accident that sent two individuals working on an electrical panel to hospital.
