TISDALE — Even after 小蓝视频 moved, a school bus stop in Tisdale is still seeing vehicles failing to stop as children board or get off the bus.
Over the month of September the Tisdale RCMP responded to two separate incidents of vehicles failing to stop for a school bus on 111th Avenue.
The stop, located at the alley between 98th Street and 100A Street on the north side of 111th Avenue, was created by the North East School Division in May as part of an effort to handle the problem of drivers not stopping for buses at the previous stop beside 111th Avenue and 98th Street.
The first instance of the school year was on Sept. 18, the second occurred on Sept. 30.
“It is September, it is the first month of school so that’s not showing a very good trend,” said Sgt. Wanita Minty, Tisdale’s detachment commander. “This is putting children in jeopardy. One driver was warned, [as for] the second driver, the investigation is still ongoing at this time.”
She added that the stop is one of two bus stops in town that the detachment is specifically targeting at this time.
In response to the continued issues, Minty said they are looking at options for different proactive prevention initiatives.
The Tisdale RCMP included the numbers in their community policing report to Tisdale council at their October council meeting.
Over the month of September, the Tisdale RCMP responded to 77 calls for service in the Town of Tisdale, and a total of 144 calls within the whole service area. This doesn’t include traffic services numbers.
Among the offences reported in the community, there were two sexual offences, seven spousal assaults, threats or other, six mischief calls, one break and enter, seven thefts or possession of stolen property, one impaired driving, eight other Criminal Code offences, and two Mental Health Act calls.
