The Tisdale Ramblers Rodeo and Trade Fair is coming back in April.

TISDALE — Bull riding, horse pull, calf roping, steer wrestling and bareback riding will all be returning at the Tisdale Ramblers Rodeo and Trade Fair announced for April.

Dwight Marleau, marketing officer with the Ramblers, said that in addition to having all the rodeo events they’ve had in the past, they’re in contact with different associations to see what new events they can add.

“Our rodeo is basically a kickoff to the Canadian Cowboy Association’s rodeo events,” Marleau said. “It’s proven in the past that it’s such a great event to get out with family and friends, enjoy their company and enjoy the atmosphere of the rodeo again.”

The rodeo will take place in the RECplex arena, while the trade fair will take place in the curling club, lobby and gymnasium. A mechanical bull will be set up.

Kicking off the events is the ranch rodeo on April 7 at 7 p.m.

On April 8, the events will continue with the rodeo at 7 p.m. followed by the rodeo dance at 9 p.m. featuring the band Kings and Renegades. Kings and Renegades describe their music as country/rock.

The trade fair will take place from noon until 7 p.m.

On April 9, the day starts with barrel racing at 10 a.m., followed by the horse pull at 1 p.m. and the rodeo at 6 p.m. The day will finish with the rodeo dance at 9 p.m., featuring the band the Odd Man Out. Odd Man Out ranges from 70's classic rock, disco, country and modern pop hits.

The trade fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

All rodeos have numbered seating. Tickets may be purchased from Hi Fashion in Tisdale.

The annual event, which was postponed the last two years due to the pandemic, is the largest fundraiser for the Tisdale Ramblers senior hockey team.

“The team needs it to get back to where we need to be to keep our team alive,” Marleau said.

“The rodeo brings in thousands of people into the town for the weekend, so it’s kind of a win-win for both the town and the Ramblers organization.”
