The magical sights and sounds of a beloved tale were eclipsed only by the smiles last weekend as the Maidstone Skating Club held their annual carnival.

Alice in Wonderland brought colourful characters to life and the melodies chosen included classic favourites and new gems. Solo Starskaters Samantha Lundquist, Anne Nerbas, Nicola Schwartz and Cortney Maier all showed marked improvement over last year as they glided, twirled and jumped with grace and beauty.

Some of the classes were smaller this year, but the young skaters showcased their talent with pride and seemed to enjoy performing for family and friends.

The costumes showed the talent of the designers who found a way to bring the characters of the White Rabbit, flamingos, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the Cheshire Cat and more to the ice.

The Maidstone Skating Club is well supported by the community and relies on the time and talents of many volunteer throughout the season. The carnival is a true celebration of talent and the community.
