SASKATOON — In a show of solidarity and support for MS Awareness Month, residents of Saskatoon and nearby communities will take part in a 5km walk.
This event, organized by MS Canada and sponsored by Blue Cross Saskatchewan, aims to raise awareness and gather support for individuals affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
With one in 400 Canadians affected by MS, MS Canada serves as the largest organization in the country dedicated to assisting those with MS.
The MS Canada walk fosters community and unity, encouraging backing for individuals living with MS and their families and loved ones.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 28, 2023, with check-in starting at 10:00 AM and the opening ceremonies commencing at 11:00 AM.
The venue for the walk is North Meewasin Park, located at 2704 Spadina Crescent E., Saskatoon.
Notable attendees include members of the MS community, MS Canada staff and MS Ambassador Jackie Pilon.
Multiple Sclerosis affects people of all ages and genders. Canada holds the highest rates of the condition worldwide, with over 90,000 Canadians living with MS and an average of 12 new cases diagnosed daily.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for MS, making awareness crucial in supporting and improving the lives of affected Canadians.
As the largest MS organization in Canada, MS Canada has relentlessly fought against MS for over 75 years.
Through funding research and advocating for people living with MS, MS Canada strives to improve policies that impact their everyday lives, ultimately working towards a world free of multiple sclerosis.
By participating in the 5km walk in Saskatoon, MS Canada and the city is joining forces to draw attention to the impact of MS and demonstrate solidarity with those living with the disease.
The opening ceremonies and walk symbolise support and serve as a means to unite communities in rallying behind this important cause.
