LA RONGE – A man allegedly involved in an incident where police were shot at has been denied bail and is headed to trial in October and November.
In June, Allan Sanderson was wanted by police for obstruction and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Sanderson was arrested July 5 after police got a public tip. They found him hiding under a blanket in the back seat of a vehicle at business on Highway 2 in La Ronge. Police additionally charged him with eight weapons-related offences.
Sanderson, 36, along with Celine Charles, Terrance Daigneault, 29, and Nikeyta Bradfield, 24, are all charged in connection to the June 19 shooting incident that prompted the communities of La Ronge, Lac La Ronge, and Air Ronge to go into lockdown.
Daigenault allegedly shot at police officers and a police vehicle. Bullets struck the cruiser’s windshield and radiator. No RCMP officers were injured during this incident and no other injuries have been reported to police.
Sanderson has a trial scheduled on Nov. 30 on charges of obstruction and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle. He also has a trial scheduled for Oct. 28 for his additional firearms-related charges. He is also back in court on Oct. 14 to have his matter spoken to.
The charges against Sanderson haven’t been tested in court.
