ROSTHERN — RCMP have confirmed one fatality so far as a result of an apartment building fire in Rosthern Thursday morning. The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is investigating.
Rosthern RCMP received the report of the fire located on 4th Ave in Rosthern at approximately 9 a.m. Fire departments from Hague and Rosthern responded.
RCMP says when officers arrived they found the apartment building engulfed in flames. Wakaw RCMP, along with local EMS, also attended.
Officers secured a perimeter around the building to help maintain public safety while local fire departments worked to extinguish the fire.
Residents from the building were evacuated and escorted to a safe location. Some received medical assistance from EMS.
Residents in the community and other travellers are asked to avoid the area if emergency responders are in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
