LA RONGE - A La Ronge man who fled from police and hid in the woods pleaded guilty to weapons-related charges.
Sampson Roberts, 21, appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Sept. 17 and will be sentenced on Sept. 24.
La Ronge RCMP, RCMP Emergency Response Team and RCMP Police Dog Services teamed up to arrest Roberts.
Police issued a warrant for his arrest and on July 18 notified the public of increased police presence on Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB). Roberts ran into a wooded area and was located that day at around 11:30 p.m. at a nearby residence.
Roberts was wanted in two separate incidents.
On May 3 at about 5:30 a.m. La Ronge RCMP responded to a complaint of a firearm 小蓝视频 discharged at a residence on Bells Point Road in LLRIB. In that incident Roberts was charged with six firearms related offences.
On July 8 at about 7:40 p.m. La Ronge RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle rollover on Highway 165. According to police, there were three occupants in the vehicle. Two fled the scene before police arrived and weren’t located. The remaining occupant was treated for minor injuries. A firearm was found at the scene.
Roberts was the driver and charged with five firearms-related offences, driving while prohibited and two counts of breach of probation.
