Preliminary hearing set for Troy Lester in P. A. court

Troy Lester was denied bail in August and remains in custody.

PRINCE ALBERT – A preliminary hearing was set Tuesday for a 53-year-old Prince Albert man accused of making and possessing child pornography.

The hearing to determine if there’s enough evidence for Troy Lester to stand trial has been scheduled for Feb. 8, 2023, in Prince Albert Provincial Court. The hearing will be on the charge of making available child pornography. Two counts of possession of child pornography will be spoken to at the hearing.

Lester was denied bail in August and remains in custody.

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested Lester on June 30 after ICE investigators and Prince Albert Police Service patrol officers executed a search warrant at a home, which had been identified where the offences were occurring.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.

The charges against Lester haven't been tested in court.
