NORTH BATTLEFORD – Building permits values for North Battleford saw a significant rise in March.
According to the latest numbers presented at council at Monday's meeting, five permits were issued for $3,792,500 in March. That compares to six permits for $1,935,000 for the same month in 2021.
Primarily responsible for the big jump in March’s numbers was one new commercial permit issued for $3,242,500. Director of Corporate Services Jennifer Niesink confirmed that amount was for the Discovery Co-op strip mall development on Carlton Trail next to Walmart.
“We’re happy to see that moving forward,” Niesink said.
For the year to date, permit values are still down, although permit numbers are slightly up. Through March, 22 permits have been issued for $4,943,000, which compares to 21 permits for $7,442,000 in 2021.
