PRINCE ALBERT - Four people are dealing with drug-related charges following an attempted traffic stop in the Prince Albert area.
On July 21 at about 4 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the RM of Garden River.
Officers responded immediately and located the suspect vehicle on Highway 302. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop, and instead fled towards Prince Albert. Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to public safety concerns.
Shortly after, police located the suspect vehicle parked on a service road.
After investigating, officers arrested three woman and one man at the scene.
Officers found and seized about 22 grams of MDMA and drug trafficking paraphernalia in the vehicle. The also seized about 155 grams of methamphetamine and about six grams of fentanyl, which police say the man attempted to hide in his pants.
Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services also assisted and located a discarded can of bear spray and a modified rifle in the ditch, near where the suspects were arrested.
One 34-year-old suspect is charged with flight from peace officer; failure or refusal to comply with alcohol demand; operation of a vehicle while prohibited; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The three other accused, ranging in age from 20 to 34, are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking; and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
All four suspects, who are all from Prince Albert, appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on July 23.
