Over 2,000 attend HDCC trade show

People came out in droves to the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC) Business Showcase and Tradeshow held on November 6-7.

The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce tradeshow was a huge success this year, with 2,222 people attending the show and over 150 vendors. The tradeshow gave people the opportunity to see a variety of different businesses, from farm equipment to scrapbooking.


People came out in droves to the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC) Business Showcase and Tradeshow held on November 6-7.
This year, a record number 2,222 people visited the tradeshow at the Humboldt Uniplex, 1,000 more than last year, said DonnaLyn Dyok, HDCC executive director.
Dyok credits some of the changes they made to the show this year for the boost in numbers.
"(It's) probably due to free admission and we did do some different things with marketing," said Dyok.
Not only did a record amount of people come out to look at the tradeshow, over 150 vendors had booths set up at the show.
"It's been sold out for months," said Dyok. "We've had to turn people away."
The trade show was a success not only in the number of people who came out, but also because everybody who came out was satisfied with their experience, Dyok claims.
"The vendors and people visiting say they are happy," said Dyok.
"Everyone says they'll be back (next year), so it's just been fantastic."
There was a variety of different vendors at the tradeshow, from small businesses to larger corporations.


"I like the variety and that it's not just one thing," said Amy Dodds, from the Heritage Education Funds booth.
"I've been to lots of tradeshows and here, there's something for everybody."
Other vendors were also impressed with the show.
"It's been a good experience," said Dani Halvorson from the SereniGy Global booth.
"I would definitely come back. It was worth me driving two hours to come."
The vendors were all busy throughout the entire tradeshow.
"I've been giving out my card a lot and I've made a few sales, which has been good," said Kylie Redl-Gosselin of Close to My Heart, a local scrapbooking business.
"It was a great way to get the word out."
Dyok also credits the volunteers at the event for helping to make it a huge success.
"(The HDCC board) has really stepped up and (were) volunteers for the weekend," said Dyok.
"Without them, it wouldn't have been the success it is."
