HUMBOLDT — The north end of The Elizabeth is 小蓝视频 converted into private homecare for residents that require extra care that the other sections of The Elizabeth are unable to provide.

The Elizabeth is an enriched living community for seniors with three meals per day, along with an enriched Wellness program.

The north wing, which contains 12 suites, two bathing units, and a sunshine room with a kitchen, will be run by Country Care Sask.

Started by Sara Pierrard, a continuing care assistant (CCA) and former employee of The Elizabeth, Country Care Sask provides 16 hours of care, which Pierrard said is planned to eventually move to 24 hours as capacity increases. This includes providing medications, bathing, and assistance with mobility.

Country Care also provides private homecare through the region, including Humboldt, Lanigan and Watson.

“The reason why I started this business was because with COVID happening there is so many elderly people that homecare couldn’t get to and I wanted to provide help to all levels of care,” Pierrard said.

She said there will be “no separation lines” between the north wing of The Elizabeth and the rest of the facility, with residents dining in the standard dining room and able to partake in all activities.

“They pay rent to The Elizabeth, and then they pay Country Care for their care,”  Pierrard said.

“They get the 16 hours of care, but they get all the privileges of going down to the dining room with the rest of The Elizabeth residents, they get to go to all of the activities… We’re just one big community at The Elizabeth.”

Currently there are six CCAs on staff, with the addition of a cleaner with two residents living in the facility.

Pierrard said moving into The Elizabeth was inspired by one of her clients in Lanigan who needed to go somewhere with more full-time care. At the time, she was considering starting her own care home, then conversations with The Elizabeth began.

Country Care can be contacted at 306-231-4631.

“No matter what side they’re on they’re still part of The Elizabeth, it’s just that Country Care has stepped in to make it open up to the community to give the community more of an option.”
