OTTAWA - Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has issued a statement expressing concerns about growing COVID-19 hospitalization numbers in Saskatchewan.
Noting that the pandemic was not over yet, Singh called upon the federal government to be ready to support Saskatchewan.
His statement comes on the heels of the latest hospitalization numbers released by the province Thursday. Their latest report indicated there were 417 hospitalizations for COVID-19, a new record.
Singh's statement in full is as follows:
“Federal New Democrats are closely monitoring the concerning health care situation in Saskatchewan where the province is reporting record COVID-19 hospitalization numbers.
"The pandemic is not over yet. Many people in Saskatchewan are still struggling with the reality of friends and family facing medical emergencies due to COVID-19. The federal government should be ready to support Saskatchewanians as needed.
"Now more than ever, we need to make sure people are getting the medical support they need by reinforcing, protecting, and investing in our health care system. New Democrats will continue to fight for our loved ones and needed investments in our health care system, so it’s there for people when they need it.”
