NORTH BATTLEFORD - North Battleford City Kinsmen Band and Choir has announced it will host a fundraiser concert this weekend to support the Ukrainian community.

It takes place Sunday, March 13 at Kinsmen Band Hall, 1801 - 104th St., North Battleford, to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.

According to their news release, the fundraiser will take the form of a concert. It will open with the band and choir performing 袛械褉卸邪胁薪懈泄 袚褨屑薪 校泻褉邪褩薪懈 (Ukrainian National Anthem) and Prayer for Ukraine by Oleksandr Konysky.

The rest of the concert will consist of solo performances by talented musicians from across the Battlefords. Performance slots for the concert are still available and those interested are encouraged to contact band director Chinley Hinacay at [email protected].

“I think music truly is powerful,” said Hinacay in a news release. “It has the ability to incite a vast number of emotions, heal the spirit and bring a community of people together. My goal with this fundraiser is to not only raise funds for the people in Ukraine but to also show our own Ukrainian community that the people of the Battlefords are with them and will continue supporting them in any way we can.”

Entry is by donation, and seating will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. At this time, audience members are asked to remain masked for the duration of the concert. People are encouraged to follow the Kinsmen Band's Facebook page for updates regarding their masking policy.
