Man facing weapons, violence charges now faces drug trafficking charges

Drug trafficking charges have been added on to Jason Krysta's list of weapons and violence related charges in 2 provinces.

LLOYDMINSTER - A Lloydminster man facing weapons and violence-related charges in two provinces now faces drug trafficking charges.

Jason Krysta, 31, was further charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, two counts of failing to comply with release conditions. On those charges, Krysta is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster, Alta., court on June 14.

Those charges were laid after Lloydminster Alberta RCMP Dog Services and the Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section executed what they described as multiple search warrants and enforcement actions on homes and vehicles between May 17 and 18 where they seized about one pound of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, 11 grams of fentanyl, MDMA, about 500 prescription pills, and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

Also charged in the May 17 and 18 raids, were 42-year-old Oits Watier of Lashburn, Sask., 32-year-old Sara McKenzie and 45-year-old Wesley Wendt both of Lloydminster, Alta.

Krysta, Watier and Wendt were all released from custody and appear in Lloydminster, Alta., court June 14.

Krysta also has charges out of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, when he was arrested and charged in November 2021 with assault causing bodily harm, assault, break and enter to a home with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of threats to cause death, two counts of theft of a cell phone from two separate people with threats to use violence, theft of keys with threat to use violence, mischief by damaging a door, and failing to comply with a release order not to carry or have weapons except work tools while used at a job site, or utensils used while preparing or eating food. He was granted bail. On those charges he is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster, Sask., court June 2.

Krysta also has charges out of Red Deer, Alberta, from an alleged January 2022 home invasion incident where a man was attacked and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Krysta was charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to an order, disobeying a court order, and failing to comply with release conditions. He was granted bail. A preliminary hearing on those charges has been set for Aug. 18-19 in Red Deer Provincial Court. Shane Donnally, 43, and Corey Morris, 30, were also charged in that incident.
