According to Lloydminster RCMP, they received a 911 call at 5:09 a.m. about an intoxicated man with a machete who was causing a disturbance at a residence in the area of 52 Avenue and 35 Street.

Two officers tried to arrest the man and a struggle followed. A third officer arrived to provide assistance and the man was taken into police custody.

Two RCMP officers required medical treatment at Lloydminster Hospital for minor injuries as a result of this incident.

ASIRT will investigate the conduct of the involved officers.

鈥淚ndependent of ASIRT's investigation, the RCMP's internal review process will also be implemented to fully examine the incident,鈥 said Cpl. Deanna Fontaine, Alberta RCMP Media Relations.
