Five people were sent to hospital, three of them in critical condition, following a major three-vehicle crash Friday morning on the Highway 16 bypass in North Battleford.
Around 9:30 a.m. a westbound minivan pulling a holiday trailer lost control, resulting in a collision with an eastbound car and truck. The incident occurred on the downhill portion of the Highway 16 bypass.
Three people were transported to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon in critical condition, while two others were treated and released from Battlefords Union Hospital.
As of Monday, two males remained in intensive care at Royal University Hospital, while one female is still hospitalized.
The department of highways closed a portion of highway 16 from the Battlefords Bridge to the bypass and traffic was rerouted through the city of North Battleford.
A highway collision reconstructionist was on the scene to assist in the investigation. Highway 16 was reopened later Friday around 6 p.m.
The RCMP say the investigation is ongoing. As of yet, no charges have been laid.
