Councillor Grace Lang has again voiced concerns about passengers at the Greyhound bus depot in North Battleford 小蓝视频 forced to wait for outdoors buses to arrive in the freezing cold weather.
Monday night marked the third council meeting in a row in which Lang voiced the concerns. Lang said the bus depot is closed on weekend evenings, and bus passengers are forced to brave the elements waiting for buses that often do not arrive on schedule.
City Director of Business Development Denis Lavertu said he looked into the situation at the bus depot, located in the north end of the city.
He confirmed passengers do have to wait outside for buses when the depot is not open. The regular hours of operation, Lavertu said, are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 1p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
Lavertu reported there were a number of buses running outside these hours. It was also confirmed that the Greyhound buses run late about 50 per cent of the time and the bus depot has "no control" over the schedule of the buses.
City Manager Jim Toye said it would be difficult for the city to impose rules on the privately-owned depot. Toye did say, however, that letters outlining council's concerns would be written to Greyhound and STC.
Councillor Ron Crush said he agreed with Toye it was the appropriate to make those involved aware of the concerns expressed.
