Jennifer Hendry's accused killer back in La Ronge court

Jennifer Hendry was well-known in the communities of Air Ronge and La Ronge where she lived and worked for almost 20 years.

LA RONGE – A teen charged with first-degree murder and robbery in 46-year-old Jennifer Hendry's death during a home invasion in January in Air Ronge had an appearance in La Ronge Court Thursday.

The youth, who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on Jan. 20, 2023, by CCTV to speak to his matter.

The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigated Hendry’s murder that occurred at her home on Waco Drive in Air Ronge. They released a picture and video of a suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him. Four days later they arrested the youth.

Hendry was well-known in the communities of Air Ronge and La Ronge where she lived for almost 20 years, first as an instructor at Northlands College, and more recently with the La Ronge RCMP and Saskatchewan Health Authority, according to her obituary.
