Although it may be getting close, the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (HDHF) has not met their $1.8 million goal.
The foundation is worried that since they met their last milestone with the matching donation from PotashCorp, people think they are finished raising money.
Kevin Dow, co-chair of the Equipment Campaign Committee, said it was a significant milestone, but it did not mark the end of the campaign.
"We don't want the misconception that we are finished," said Michelle Bankowski, co-chair of Equipment Campaign Committee.
They still have $272, 000 to raise to reach their final goal and are on the last leg of the campaign.
So far, they have received a great response to the campaign from the community, through donations and community events.
"It's been a really fine example of (what can happen) when a region pulls together," said Pat Witt of HDHF.
They appreciate all the donations made by people, organizations and businesses, whether they are big or small.
"Lots of small donations add up to a large contribution," said Humboldt Mayor Malcolm Eaton.
HDHF has more events planned to help raise money, including their Have A Heart marathon in the fall.
They hope to have the campaign finished by the end of September, so it will be completed before the new hospital opens in mid-October.
