In a time of year punctuated by sniffs, sneezes, coughs and winter blues comes a day to chase them all away.
The Paradise Hill School held their annual Wellness Day last Friday offering students and members of the community a chance to be entertained, inspired, motivated and challenged.
The event brings people together and introduces examples of healthy choices through the talented and diverse workshop presenters. The facilitators came from near and far to spend the day with the community offering a bit of magic, plenty of laughs, and a chance to experience something new.
Students were broken into age appropriate groups to experience several sessions throughout the day. Included in the program were multi-media big screen presentations with music and video clips.
Ventriloquist Val Hilliker brought along a variety of voices and furry and feathered friends to share skills for coping with bullying. Members of the Street Culture Project of Regina shared stories and activities to encourage young people to think about their environment.
Tara Canfield got the groups moving while laughing and grinning, making fitness fun. Kevin Brooks shared his emotional true story of a series of bad choices leading him to a life without the ability to walk or wiggle his toes.
Chelsea Ault spoke to the older students about their eating habits and Steve Harmer brought a message along with his magic.
The fun didn't end with the final bell as Steve Harmer and Val Hilliker planned an evening of family entertainment for the entire community.
Wellness Day is made possible by the Paradise Hill Home and School Association, parents, volunteers, staff and many generous sponsors caring together for the youth and a healthy future for their minds and bodies.
